What was the challenge?

These homeowners embarked on a home renovation to better accommodate visiting family from Australia. Their snug log cabin, while charming and full of character, lacked the space and amenities needed to host guests comfortably. With only one bathroom and a loft-style master bedroom, they envisioned a more functional layout that would allow them to welcome loved ones while also enhancing their daily living experience.

What was delivered?

The renovation included the addition of a guest bedroom, a second spa-like bathroom, an indoor gym, and a dedicated office space for their outfitting business. Preserving the integrity of the original log home was a top priority, requiring careful integration of new log work and attention to matching the aged wood tones. The updated floor plan significantly improved the home’s functionality, blending seamlessly with the existing structure. High-end finishes, improved mechanical systems, and energy-efficient windows were incorporated, all while respecting the surrounding landscape and the couple’s four dogs. A standout feature is the gallery space showcasing their extensive taxidermy collection, including a full bear mount—bringing a uniquely Canadian flair to their beautifully transformed home.
