The Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (GVHBA) is proud to offer and sponsor a number of consumer events throughout the year that are both informational and educational. These events will help provide you with the information you need to make your renovation a more enjoyable experience.
Home Renovation Seminar
The Home Renovation Seminar is a free seminar held twice a year (May and November) for homeowners who are planning renovations. At each seminar more than 300 attendees are treated to presentations from award-winning renovators, a lawyer, interior designer and a municipal building official on topics such as:• Choosing a professional renovator
• Communicating with your renovator
• Legal considerations and contracts
• Permits and inspections
There is also an exhibition area, where seminar attendees can view renovation-related products and services, collect renovation literature, and ask industry professionals questions about their own renovations plans or projects.
GVHBA Parade of Renovated Homes
Every June -- for one day only -- the GVHBA Renovation Council invites the public to tour professionally renovated homes across Metro Vancouver. The popular Parade of Renovated Homes showcases leading-edge renovation design, construction techniques and building products. Professional renovators, many of them award winners, are on site to discuss their craftsmanship and offer expert advice. Renovation projects range in price, which offers people who view the homes an abundance of ideas they can incorporate into their own renovations.BC Home and Garden Show
Every year, the BC Home and Garden Show is held at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver (exception: In 2011, due to the roof construction at BC Place Stadium, the show will be held at the new Vancouver Convention Centre, March 2 – 6). More than 50,000 people attend this show, looking to become inspired, enlightened, informed and energized with helpful advice, gardening solutions and the coolest new products.A major feature at this show is the Home in the Dome presented by GVHBA and a multitude of homebuilding industry partners. You can pick up a wealth of free literature and also attend a number of free seminars on various topics relating to homes and gardens.
Vancouver Home and Interior Design Show
The Vancouver Home and Interior Design Show is held every year in October at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver (for 2010, due to construction at BC Place Stadium, the show will be held at the new Vancouver Convention Centre, September 9 – 12).
One of the most popular exhibits at the Vancouver Home and Interior Design Show is the GVHBA Renovation Gallery. It provides consumers with the opportunity to view a wide range of before-and-after display boards of GVHBA members' renovation projects, learn about GVHBA and RenoMark. The popular Ask-a-Pro consultations are also offered where show visitors can get professional advice from renovators, interior designs and decorators, suppliers and subtrades about their renovation projects.
